Mark Hennessey is a composer and multi-instrumenatlist (violin, cello & piano) from Dublin Ireland.  Having completed his BSc in Information Technology he toured the world extensively with various shows including Michael Flatleys productions Lord of the Dance, Feet of Flames and Celtic Tiger.  Mark also lived in London, Boston, Virginia and Las Vegas and after 7 years of touring he decided to return focus to his education.  Mark found the Masters in MMT was the ideal way to merge his interests of technology and music together.  He has worked on various collaborations, most recently having composed the soundtrack for the latest art exhibition of artist Jordi Fornies for an interactive experience.  He is also in the process of composing music for documentaries on the show Futureproof, a weekly science program which is broadcast on the national radio station Newstalk.

Isolation is an interactive composition for a solo performer involving live violin, live electronics and live visuals.  With the aid of a wireless controller attached to the forearm of the performers bowing arm, they will be able to control the live electronic part as well as elements of live visuals.  This will be achieved by simply using gestures which come naturally to them as a performer as well as some extended gestures.  The idea is to extend the functionality of the instrument past the confinements of its physicality and allow for endless possibilities in exploration of sound and expression for the performer.
