Ronan Tierney is a musician of both classical and self-taught training. Following on from a BA in Fine Art from the National College of Art and Design, he has worked freelance as a resident artist/ musician with children from a domestic violent background, children with autism and adults with an intellectual disability. He has also actively been performing in groups, songwriting and composing music having released an album with his group Pirates of the North in 2011.

For his final masters project he is undertaking a composition, exploiting the use of Blues and Ragtime techniques, for solo player piano, in an attempt to write beyond the capabilities of human anatomy.
